Founded by brand owners, for brand owners

UltraLabs builds Shopify stores, migrations and lead-generation websites. The people specifying the work also run ecommerce businesses, which changes what gets built.

Who does the work

Jacob Bytom, founder

One person accountable for the scope, and no account-management layer between the problem and the build.

Jacob Bytom, founder of UltraLabs

I have spent over fifteen years building and running ecommerce brands, and my team and I still operate stores every day rather than only advising on them.

UltraLabs exists because of what that experience kept showing up: agencies that did not carry the consequences of their own decisions, work priced before the problem was understood, and handovers that left internal teams owning a system nobody had explained to them.

So the company is built the other way round. The commercial goal is agreed before the scope. The scope is written down before the build. The documents the build produces stay with you at handover, whether or not you keep us on monthly support.

  • Operating experience across multi-brand retail, single-brand stores and direct-to-consumer food.
  • Shopify builds, replatforms and continuing store development as the core of the work.
  • Astro and Next.js marketing sites where the job is enquiries rather than baskets.
  • Prices published before a call, because a starting figure is not a trade secret.
How we work

Four commitments that decide what we will and will not sell

They are here because each one costs us work, which is the only reason a commitment means anything.

Swipe the commitments

Scope first

The problem before the price

We will not quote a rebuild before we understand what is blocking the business. Sometimes the answer is a smaller job than the brief.

Published prices

Starting figures in the open

GBP and USD starting prices are on the site. Complex configurations are scoped after discovery and said to be so.

No tied retainer

A build never buys support

Monthly support is a separate service for stores with a live backlog. A build ends with a handover either way.

Honest limits

No promised revenue

Revenue depends on product, price, stock, offer, service and traffic as well as the site. We say what the build controls and what it does not.

Get in touch

Tell us what needs building

Enough detail to reply usefully. No call is required to get a straight answer.

Send a brief

Describe the commercial problem rather than the solution where you can. The store or site address, what it has to achieve, and what is blocking it now are usually enough for a straight answer.

Sent through Web3Forms so we receive it by email. Read our privacy notice for what we do with an enquiry and how long we keep it.

Prefer to read first? The price list, the work index and the migration estimator answer the usual first questions.

Start with what it has to achieve.

Send the store or site and the commercial problem behind the rebuild. We will tell you which of the two it actually is.
